What are the differences between stage makeup and film makeup?
I know that the shadows and highlights are different, but how else is makeup in stage and film different?|||Stage make up is more abstract and is designed so that the people sitting all the way at the back of the theater can discern between characters very easily. It's brighter, it's bigger, it's all about creating unique shapes and textures. Movie makeup is more subtle due to the camera being able to get up-close and personal.|||They also have special makeup for HD cameras now, so there's another level of difficulty. Also, with HD you typically have to put the same base you use for your face all the way down your bust line, otherwise you look like you have clown makeup on, since its a visible difference between the face and neck colors.|||When you put on stage makeup, your face is usually a different color than the rest of your body.
