How long does it take to animate a film that is done traditionally?

I imagine years considering the animators have to do mostly everything by hand. But I want a specific amount of time like say 2-3 years?Like let's

say the film is 1-2 hours long, how long would it take to make if it was

done in traditional animation?|||It could take a day to animate about 2-3 seconds of animation, you do the math. If you are drawing each individual frame by hand, maybe longer. Cell animation, on the other hand, is a lot faster and more efficient.|||I did it once on windows paint. Made each frame a little different than the other. I made 1000 pictures, that took about a few months doing 10 pictures a day.

In the end... The movie lasted about 3 minutes.|||if ur talking about anime then i'm sure it doesn't take that long. because they bring out a new episode each week wich is about 20 mins long. it also depends if 3d software is used in the animation. there are few factors that determine the time like

*animation detail

*sound/voices

*storyline

*effects and so on|||Mary and Max took 5 years as it was a claymation. The medium that you are filming will determine how long it takes. If you are drawing each frame that takes a long time. An old film school buddy once did a film by moving bodies across a photocopier (not healthy) but that only took 2 days I think then they filmed each frame. there are 24 frames per second so choose wisely and try and have the whole film script finalised before shooting.
